Climate risk modeling for mangrove ecosystems
EDS Seminar Speaker Series. Sarah Hülsen discusses Climate Risk Modeling for Mangrove Ecosystems
Title: Climate risk modeling for mangrove ecosystems
Speaker: Sarah Hülsen, ETH Zürich
Abstract
This week's seminar will explore climate risk modeling for coastal ecosystems and the services they provide, especially for coastal communities. The focus is on leveraging climate and hazard model data to project changes in the frequency and intensity of extreme events to quantify and map potential future disturbance regimes. We will also discuss implications for ecosystem recovery and persistence with increasingly extreme events under climate change.

Sarah Hülsen is a PhD student with the Weather and Climate Risk Group at ETH Zürich (Switzerland). Her work focuses on extreme weather impacts on ecosystems and implications for ecosystem services. To this end she uses various methods, including probabilistic risk modeling and remote sensing. Sarah is also a developer for the CLIMADA open-source climate and weather risk modeling platform.
