Jenny is now a Google Employee.

 

Jenny is data science faculty and course developer with the Earth Analytics Education Initiative at Earth Lab. She teaches Earth Analytics Bootcamp (GEOG 5463) and Earth Analytics Applications (GEOG 5663) in the Earth Data Analytics - Foundations Professional Certificate program.

Jenny has over a decade of professional experience working with geospatial and database technologies across the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Most recently, she worked as a PostgreSQL database consultant for the California Alumni Association and a GIS supervisor in the energy industry.

Jenny is an open source enthusiast and joined Earth Lab to further its mission of open reproducible science for addressing environmental challenges. She holds a M.S. in Applied Geography from the University of North Texas and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from the University of California, Berkeley. While at Berkeley, she was also involved in various initiatives across multiple levels of education, including: developing and teaching geospatial curriculum for the undergraduate Data Science major, co-leading the graduate-level capstone course for the NSF Research Traineeship in Data Science, and co-developing and co-leading the Spatial Data Science Bootcamp for Professionals.

Jenny loves to bake and do yoga in her free time.
