Meghan Hayden is a PhD student working with Dr. Laura Dee in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at CU Boulder. She studies the impacts of global change (e.g., drought, fire) for vegetation communities and is particularly interested in improved monitoring and assessment of functional diversity through remote sensing. Meghan is working as a Graduate Research Assistant on the NASA-funded BioScape project, where she aims to quantify scaling relationships of spectral diversity across different ecosystems. She is actively developing Python-based workflows for processing and deriving diversity metrics from high resolution hyperspectral reflectance data.
